DIY Planter For World Environment Day

    By Motheropedia | Do It Yourself (DIY) | 0 comment | 5 June, 2016 | 0

Caring for the planet that you live in doesn’t happen on a whim. It is something that probably starts young. And call me hopeful, but this year I took up the concept with my 2 year old.
So this World Environment Day 2016, my daughter and I celebrated by creating a DIY Planter from som teeny-tiny saplings in some Mega Bloks from around the house.

Here’s how we made this DIY Planter With Mega Bloks For World Environment Day 2016!

    1. We brought out some spare Mega Bloks and assembled them inverted so that the hollow spaces would accommodate some soil to plant the saplings in. (We poked some holes in them to aid in draining of water.)DIY Planter
    1. Next Miss I. used a spade to scoop up the soil and fill it into the newly invented planter!DIY Planter
    2. This was way too much fun and such a great sensory experience. Leveling the mud down with her fingers, feeling the saplings, talking about the plants, all of it was a wonderful learning opportunity for her.DIY Planter
    3. Once she reached the point where she couldn’t get more messy, she helped me to place some  saplings into the planter. I made sure we bought plants that were slow growing (I didn’t want them growing out of the bloks to soon), that could mix well together and were very low on maintenance. And this is what we finally had! Such a gorgeous re-purposed DIY Planter. And a splendid celebrate World Environment Day.

    About Me

Before I became a mom I had dedicated myself to being an Educator. As a teacher I always counselled parents on the battles that went on in their lives as mothers. Once a mother, these battles raged within me. Having said this, I also sensed that mothers around me are always in conflict within themselves.
