    Sensory Foam Play

    Foam!

As a kid I loved foam. My kids have this gene from me. They absolutely love it. And so does the internet. There’s so much dedicated to this as a sensory exploratory material. So we decided to have our own sensory play foam fun yesterday. It was fantastic!  We spent the larger part of our morning playing with this.

The sight of the sensory play foam definitely excited my little one. This was great otherwise I might have been compelled to play with it by myself! She was excited and couldn’t wait to begin.

This is the tubful of sensory foam  that we got straight out of the mixer.  If you are into baking, you would understand that it looks like loads of whipped cream.

Miss I had the awesomest (make-up-word) playing time with the plain foam. I played around with the proportions until I got the best results from  my particular mixer. But of course, you may try your own proportions to see what works for you. I realized less water will give dense foam and more water, puffier foam. But I would suggest keep away from too much water because it makes the foam fall flat.

After a few minutes of playing, we brought out the egg beater and re-beat the foam to make it stiff again.

Once we got done with playing with the plain foam, we brought in some colours to show some great colour mixing happening in our foam. We added some orange to begin with. I used some regular poster paints which were available around the house.

I also tossed in a couple of cups and toys. What started out as foam play kind-off ended in a nice wash for the animals in our collection.  Sensory play. Done. Washing toys. Done. Great  fun morning. Done!!

Here’s how to make this gorgeous Sensory Play Foam:

2 caps full of dishwashing soap (if you are going to try this with the really smaller kids, use tear-free soap because this is not exactly tear free)
    3 caps full of water
    Food Blender
A big tub to scoop this out in (trust me on a bigggg tub!)

This is a great sensory play  activity and full of opportunities for imaginative play.

    About Me

Before I became a mom I had dedicated myself to being an Educator. As a teacher I always counselled parents on the battles that went on in their lives as mothers. Once a mother, these battles raged within me. Having said this, I also sensed that mothers around me are always in conflict within themselves.
