The Village That Helped Me Raise My Child: BabyChakra

    By Motheropedia | Motherhood, Parenting | 9 comments | 26 August, 2016 | 0
Thank you BabyChakra for sponsoring this post. All the opinions in this article belong to me.

Everyone needs a friend to fall back on. Especially when you become a mom.

    BabyChakra

Someone to help you when the baby is crying her lungs and you lose your mind to mush! Someone who would understand why you need that pee break!  And someone who won’t judge your parenting when you plonk the kids in front of the television with a huge bowl of Maggie!

This is what BabyChakra has provided to me. This and a lot more.

BabyChakra is not just a parenting network. It is a network which aims at assisting and  empowering anybody who is related to childcare.  It is the first of its kind in India which aspires to make a celebration, value the role of parents and respect their journeys.

Honestly, with my second child I feel I am kind off rusted around the edges. This is where  BabyChakra has been an immensely reliable resource.

    I Love Its Philosophy.
It is a platform that brings expecting parents, new parents and professionals together to share and use beneficial information and ideas. It seeks the consult of service providers who work with parents’ everyday- general practitioners, maternity experts, child experts, school teachers, psychologists and so on. It believes that an informed population is a healthier population and thus encourages sharing of experiences, parenting stories, teaching ideas, play concepts, recipes, queries and so much more.

It Is A Platform Of The Locals, For The Locals!
Truth be told, Google didn’t help me with a single decent toddler food recipe that didn’t call for some exotic ingredient that was unavailable where I lived! If I wanted to know of a reliable store in my locality where I could get good cloth diapers from, I didn’t know whom to turn to! There’s just so much out there to explore and such little time on hand.

This is another aspect of BabyChakra that I absolutely depend on. All I had to do now is look for neighbourhood stores (Yes! There is city specific listing!) with REVIEWS and shortlist my options!  This saves me so much time! In a jiffy it connects my parenting needs to the locale and city of my residence.  I call it my ‘Gyaan ka Pitara!’

The fact that it caters to parents trans-states makes its information base extremely wide and insightful. This comes extremely handy when I plan vacations with my kids!

And Then, There Are The Mom Stars.
What do they do? They share. They give reviews and feedbacks to make the lives of parents easier and more enjoyable. They make confessions easier, vent smoother and suggestions; non-intrusive. I have made some of my best friends on BabyChakra.

    It Has Its Own App!
The cherry on the cake huh! This is BabyChakra’s most delightful new feature. With an extremely user friendly APP, it caters to everybody including casual browsers to urgent problem addressal. With the Feed Option for Moms, I can share my 4 a.m. stories with other girls, chat with experts on various issues and find my daily tip for my toddler till she turns 2.

    BabyChakra App

So now I don’t have to stress on my issues alone. I have many others backing me up and aching with me! All the members of this network promote and encourage development of co-moms and caregivers in supportive and friendly ways.
You can download the app here.

    Meet Ups And Events
Did I mention the events they organize? There are those amazing kids and moms play dates, simple getting to make new friends events and the most recent one being  ‘BREAST IS BEST’ event which was curated for the new nursing moms and graced by a few prominent experts in the consultation panel. This was the first ever such consortium which brought together moms-to-be, breastfeeding moms and even toddler moms. Real, hard hitting issues on breastfeeding were discussed by healthcare experts, moms who have gone through the Breastfeeding trial boldly shared their stories. Even corporates like Sony, Tech Mahindra, IBM came forward and shared how they support mothers to get back to work. The highlight of all of this being 2 mothers – one of whom shared her breast milk with the other’s baby when the little one was still in the NICU. BabyChakra has decided to take this forward as #MomLine, which will ensure that moms will be able to connect with each other to donate or ask for breast milk for their babies.

    About Me

Before I became a mom I had dedicated myself to being an Educator. As a teacher I always counselled parents on the battles that went on in their lives as mothers. Once a mother, these battles raged within me. Having said this, I also sensed that mothers around me are always in conflict within themselves.
