In The Pursuit Of Something β€˜New’ In Bed

    By Motheropedia | Motherhood, My Musings | 38 comments | 6 September, 2017 | 0

Disclaimer: This is my personal blog and all the views and thoughts expressed here are my own.
I had, after 10 long years, convinced my husband to try something β€˜new’ thing in bed. I had heard my friends talking about this and they swore that it changed things drastically in the bed. Every marriage needs a change, I can safely assume. Especially a marriage after kids.

I had done my research. Having extensively poured over the internet, browsed through the various possible styles that would bring new comforts and shades into my bed, I narrowed in on something I would love to experiment with.

Just reading about the new feeling it brought to the body, the sensory pleasures a couple could derive out of it,Β  the coziness,Β  the bonding…it made me giddy with happiness.

Oh, the thrill of Β something β€˜new!’ I couldn’t wait.

The husband however, was reluctant. Usually one open to new ideas, this one wasn’t received by him well. I could understand. The β€˜new’ change would impact him the most. He would be in the compromising position here.

On the night in mention, I lay in bed in anticipation. I could almost hear my heart. Β He walked into the room soon. His gaze met mine. He looked unsure. He was fidgety. Β He switched off the lights and slid in next to me. Β The tone of our ‘new’ encounter had been set.

Next morning, I asked him β€˜So, how was it?’

Peering over the edge of the paper, he grunted β€˜ I want the old blanket back!!’

I loved the way you built up the story. You kept the suspense alive till end. Good one.

    • Charu Gujjal Reply September 8, 2017 at 2:03 am

Interesting !! we use separate blankets/sheets too. Helps to solve many fights and arguments we could, otherwise, have in the middle of the night.

      • Motheropedia Reply September 12, 2017 at 9:21 am

πŸ™‚ Makes sense Charu. I’ll probably follow your footsteps soon.

    • Priyanka Reply September 8, 2017 at 9:43 am

Haha nice post. Dear. Actually this happens with everyone. That we are not ready to share our blanket or even our bed side. If any day I have to sleep on my hubby’s bed side that night I failed to get a sound sleep even.

      • Motheropedia Reply September 11, 2017 at 8:04 am

πŸ™‚ Glad to know I’m not alone.

OH you did and oh yes, now I don’t want to anymore. πŸ™‚

    • Lata Reply September 8, 2017 at 10:57 pm

We co-sleep and the baby is not fond of blankets at all! So we stick to separate ones for each lol.

      • Motheropedia Reply September 11, 2017 at 8:02 am

Separate ones seems to be the only way forward now.

    • Shubhreet Kaur | Raising Karma Blog Reply September 8, 2017 at 11:50 pm

      • Motheropedia Reply September 11, 2017 at 8:01 am

OMG Really Preet! Thankfully we don’t carry it around but it’s reduced to shreds and we really do need to let it go!

    About Me

Before I became a mom I had dedicated myself to being an Educator. As a teacher I always counselled parents on the battles that went on in their lives as mothers. Once a mother, these battles raged within me. Having said this, I also sensed that mothers around me are always in conflict within themselves.
