The Perfect Solution To Turn Screen Obsessed Kids Into Creative Learners!
This post was sponsored by Trunk Works LLP. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review. All the opinions in this blog are mine.
As a mom who loves DIY’s and creating things, I’m always looking out for activities that foster learning and nurture, hands on and creative learners. These, I believe are important to success.
- I believe that games should beckon innovation.
- Creativity comes with thinking out of the box.
- Creativity leads to improvisation.
- Creativity is being a risk taker or mold breaker.
- Creativity is passion.
TRUNKWORKS echoes my sentiments and that’s one of the reasons why I love this brand!
What Is Trunk Works You Ask?
Trunk Works is an all encompassing, age-appropriate, fun-inducing way of learning. The founders strongly believe that all children are highly capable, but just need the information to be disseminated in an age-appropriate and enjoyable manner.
To achieve this they decided to teach concepts using a hands-on, inquiry-based fun method. Their underlying goal is to foster exploration, creativity and curiosity. Children will be empowered and encouraged to approach math, science, language and targeted skill development with confidence.
Founded by Manini and Saloni who are moms to a six year old daughter and seven year old son respectively, Trunk Works is a fun high-quality games and activities which prevent a fear of math and science from seeping in, and which foster holistic language development during childhood.
How Is Their Learning And Play Material Different?
From their pitara of learning based material (and it’s an exhaustive list), here are the few which my babies have enjoyed to the optimum. The products that were sent to explore were as follows:
1. Story Time Travel Card Game By Trunk Works
If you are looking for birthday favours, little give aways’ to kids who come visiting or simply for your kids, these are great! The story cards are compact with great imaginative prompts, perfect for those who aspire to become creative learners. Each card is used for inspiration. I played this with both my kids and while the older one was able to incorporate the words from the cards rather meaningfully, the younger one was all over the place!
As your kids play with these cards, they’ll learn about sequencing and teamwork skills that will definitely come in handy as they develop their reading abilities. Plus, storytelling from an early age helps kids express thoughts and feelings, consider new ideas, and understand cause and effect.
These cards are distributed across themes such as objects, speech, scene and character thereby prompting kids to build imaginative and creative stories.
I’m headed for a camping trip this weekend and I’m certainly going to take them for the road trip! You can buy yours from Amazon, First Cry or in store at most Hamley’s outlets nationwide.
2. Play Clay Mats By Trunk Works
We are in love with these play mats! It’s everything my creative learner son needs!
Packed in this box, we received 10 clay play mats (clay not included). It’s the first time I’ve seen something so basic and simple, yet so engaging. Whats amazing about these cards is that both my kids (you know Inaaya is 3 years and Ruhaan is 7 years) have enjoyed them.
On one side there is number skills that reinforce counting, number recognition and number tracing (perfect for a pre-school like Inaaya who is just getting acquainted with number skills) and on the other side there are creative prompts which kept Ruhaan busy. It encouraged open-ended play with imagination and creativity. So I found Ruhaan using the supposed ice-cream sticks on the clay play mats to make hand-puppet faces!
I think this opens a world of possible play options for kids. My children were using their fine motor skills to pinch, roll, press and that was so satisfying.
We landed up missing our swimming coaching on this day because the kids just wouldn’t tire of their clay play! So if you are looking for a versatile and creative toy for your kids, this might just be your answer.
So if you are thinking what to get the toddlers in the family this Diwali, this is a wonderful gift to give. You can buy yours from Amazon, First Cry or in store at most Hamley’s outlets nationwide.
3. Trunk Works Forest Theme Wipe and Clean Kit
The more I talk about this, the lesser it is. Th e joy of this Forest Theme Kit has been in discovery.
A self contained kit, this one has been a surprise package all the way. What I really, really liked about this box was that there was all kinds of subject disciplines rolled into one small box. Themed around forests, this was like Discovery Channel in a box!
With prompts relating to math, language and science, the journey through the box unraveled unknown and unique facts about forests.
Suitable for kids over the age of 5, Ruhaan loved it! Every information sheet was a new learning experience. There was so much about Forest Scene Mathematical Patterns, Annual Growth Rings Of Trees, Scientific Inquiry on Leaves and Flowers, Symmetry in Nature, Camouflage, Leafy Word Formation, Living and Non-living things, an Adventure Packed Game on forest survival tactics and a mini forest plantation Game on addition and subtraction that it was almost like having 10 different games in the cost of one box!!
And wait, it gets better! What also makes this a wonderful gift giving option is that it is a self contained kit complete with Information Flash Cards, Activity Sheets, Experiment Procedure and Observation Sheets, Tracing Material, Marker and ALL supporting material.
Really, it can’t get better than this I guess!! What’s keeping me really excited is their upcoming product range! Since I’ve had nothing less than a fantastic experience with their other products, I’m all excited about their under-progress products.

Trunk Works surely working hard , undertaking proper research before developing the product. It takes lot of efforts and passion to design and develop inter-disciplinary activities for children .
I totally agree. The precise and conscious planning is evident from their products.
Wow all these are such amazing games to keep the children off screens, what I loved the most is the story cards. It could make a great giveaway for birthday parties too. I’m gonna buy these for my niece soon
Oh the story cards are truly fascinating. If I sat to capture the time we spent on that, I’d have loads and loads of videos and blocked space on my phone! Give them a try.
Wow all of these look innovative and creatively designed. There is a lot of thought out behind this product. I am book marking this for my future reference. Thanks for bringing this product in the spot light.

It takes lots of understanding to make such interesting and learn-with-fun kinda products. This company Trunk loads have surely long long way to go. I liked your take on every set of activity

There are some lovely ideas to engage little ones there! Definitely checking them out. These would make good return gifts.
I hate to admit it but my kid is kind of screen-obsessed even though his time is limited to two hours a day. During those 2 hours, he zones out completely. We are working on reducing it further to one hour a day. These resources will be helpful.
This is going to be a sureshot hit with my 3 year old. Can’t wait for her lay her hands on these.
These are simple yet very effective learning games for kids. I am surely going to get the story cards. For the rest my boys are still young. Cant wait for them to grow up and be able to get their hands on other games.
Such a detailed review.. i loved your view on creativity.. the activities by trunk load look quite engaging. As a new mom to 18 mo i am always on a look out for new stuff and activities, i will check out their page. Also , as a kid i had maths phobia, and certainly do not want my little one to even come closer to how i felt studying maths..
This looks great. A lot of creative thinking has gone into designing this. Such an innovative way to keep kids happily engaged.

Trunk Works, I just followed them on Insta, I loved their products. I did a sneak peek on Amazon to check the prices of their products and these look quite affordable. Have already placed an order for Story play cards, as my son is really fond of stories and it amazes me how he uses his imagination sometimes. Thanks Manveen for writing such an elaborate review.
Trunk cards look great and it is always better to engage kids creatively instead of just watching TV.
This is some imaginative play designed for toddlers and kids. I’d love to try them when Baby Hashtag grows up.
I always try and avoid screen time. This sounds like a good idea

Wow..Trunk works sounds so different and unique with the games that they are developing ..I liked the story cards and clay mats the most of all.
Well researched and articulated. A complete package of fun and learning. But would require much enthusiasm on the part of parents to make it a success.
These products look really great and seem to have been designed very thoughtfully. I definitely feel that activities like these help encourage children to play and learn through play, rather than sit in front a TV all day. I will consider this for T when he grows up
Wow! I had never heard of these before, but these games look so interesting. The story cards are my favourite so far because I think even I can use them as prompts when I work on fiction ;P But what great games! Thank you so much for introducing them to us 🙂
